Grasland (use a fixed-width font like Courier to display the tables correctly) Generic informations ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rings and amulets are used by 'p'utting them. You can't put a ring while berserking or if you're already wearing two rings or a cursed pair of gloves. You can't put an amulet while berserking or if you're already wearing an amulet. Most rings found in the dungeon have 2% chance of being cursed, 21% for rings of slaying, 22% for rings of protection, strength, evasion, dexterity and intelligence (usually those with negative bonus), and 100% for rings of hunger and teleportation, so unidentified cursed rings are usually bad. Most amulets are uncursed (98%), and this is independant from their nature (amulets of inaccuracy aren't cursed more often than other amulets). Magic enhancement rings ======================= These rings help you with magic. * Ring of fire Increases your fire resistance by 1 level and decreases your cold resistance by 1. Multiplies the power of any fire-related spell by 1.5 and divide the power of any ice-related spell by 2. * Ring of ice Increases your cold resistance by 1 level and decreases your fire resistance by 1. Multiplies the power of any ice-related spell by 1.5 and divide the power of any fire-related spell by 2. * Ring of wizardry Increases the chances to successfully cast a spell. It is cumulative with other enhancements (Staff of Wizardry, Robe of the Archmagi), but the gain is then lowered. * Ring of magical power Increases your max MP by 9 (halved over 50 MP). Enchantment rings ================= These rings allow you to evoke a power. You'll probably need a reasonable Evocation skill to be able to use them reliably. * Ring of invisibility Allows you to turn invisible (or visible if you're already invisible). This ability has to be evoked through the ability menu ('a'). Beware of magic contamination while you're invisible! * Ring of levitation Allows you to levitate over the floor (or to walk back on the floor if you're levitating). This ability has to be evoked through the ability menu ('a'). Stat rings ========== These rings temporary increase or decrease one of your stats. Other rings =========== * Ring of sustain abilities Protects you against 1-point stats loss, and decreases by 1 any other stat loss. * Ring of sustenance Decreases your food consumption by 2 points per turn. * Ring of see invisible Allows you to see invisible monsters. * Ring of regeneration Increases your HP regeneration by 0.4 point per turn (if you're not diseased or under the high-level necromantic spell "Death's door"). Also increases your food consumption by 2 points per turn. * Ring of teleport control Allows you to choose (not with 100% accuracy) the destination of otherwise random teleportations. Beware of magic contamination! Cursed rings ============ These rings are more a drawback than an asset, and are always cursed when found. * Ring of hunger Increases your food consumption by 4 points per turn. * Ring of teleportation Each turn you are wearing this ring, you have 0.8% chance of being randomly teleported somewehere else (floor and shallow water only). Teleport control allows you to control the destination, but adds magic contamination, so you may still want to randomly teleport occasionnaly by selecting an incorrect destination (wall...). Amulet effects ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * Amulet of rage Allows you to turn beserk. This ability has to be evoked through the ability menu ('A'). Ending a berserking phase with an amulet of rage around neck decreases the chance of passing out from exhaustion (5% chance instead of 10%). * Amulet of resist slowing Protects you against any attempt to slow you down, and divides by 5 the time needed to regain your normal speed if you were slowed down. Also increases the time you are hasted (+20 turns and only 50% chance each turn to effectively decrease the haste duration). * Amulet of clarity Immunes you against confusion. * Amulet of warding Hostile summoned monster attacking you now flinch away 50% of the time (not cumulative with Vehumet's protection). * Amulet of resist corrosion Halves damage from acid. When one of your items should be corroded (through acid), this amulet protects it 90% of the time. * Amulet of the gourmand Allows you to eat chunks of meat even if you're not hungry for non-carnivorous species, and to eat rotting chunks of meats as if they were clean. You'll get only a fraction of the chunk's nutrition for some time after putting the amulet (400 turns on average). * Amulet of conservation Protects your scrolls, potions and food against respectively burning, shattering and spores with a 90% efficiency. * Amulet of controlled flight Allows you to reach the ground (picking items, going down the stairs, etc.) while levitating. * Amulet of resist mutation Protects you 90% of the time when you should gain a mutation (except by potion of gain intelligence, strength or dexterity). Much less effective (around 45%) against mutations due to magic contamination or eating badly contaminated chunks. * Amulet of inaccuracy This amulet inflicts a -5 penalty to hit to any of your attack (even magical beams).
