crawlSS_052_statues.txt: Statues properties Based on Crawl Stone Soup 0.5.2 Last change: 2009-12-09 by E. Grasland (use a fixed-width font like Courier to display the tables correctly) Statues ~~~~~~~ There are 5 types of statues: - Granite statues - Orcish idols - Orange crystal statues - Silver statues - Ice statues Orcish idols and Granite statues are basically harmless, while the other are monsters. There is a unique monster, Roxanne, which looks like a statue, but is considered as a monster in any regard (can't be instantly destroyed by disintegration, is vulnerable to enchantments - although with a high magic resistance - and conjuration spells, etc.). Granite statue ============== Granite statue behave like transparent walls, except that they can't be destroyed by a wand of digging or the spell Dig. They can be destroyed by a wand of disintegration or the spells Lee's Rapid Deconstruction or Shatter, though. Orcish idol =========== Orcish idols are like granite statues, but destroying them will annoy Beogh. When annoyed, Beogh will smite you 100% of the time if you're one of its followers, 50% of the time if you're an Hill Orc or 33% otherwise. Orange crystal statue ===================== Each turn you are in sight of an Orange crystal statue, it will suffer one of the following effects: +-------------+-------+----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Effect |Chance |Description | +-------------+-------+----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ |None | 33% |No effect. | |Flavour | 10% |No effect. | |Forget map 1 | 3% |You forget on average 15% of the tiles in the map level. | |Confusion | 3% |You are confused. | |Int loss 1 | 3% |Your Int is (temporary) decreased by 1d3. In addition, you are confused. | |Forget map 2 | 3% |You forget on average 60% of the tiles in the map level. In addition, you are confused. | |Forget spell | 15% |You forget a spell chosen at random. In addition, you are confused. | |Forget map 3 | 15% |You forget the whole map level. In addition, you are confused. | |Int loss 2 | 15% |Your Int is (temporary) decreased by 1d3 + 2. In addition, you are confused. | +-------------+-------+----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Your allies may also be affected (but only confusion effects and spell amnesia may be selected). These statues are very nasty, as they confuse you about 50% of the time, which may prevent you from getting out of sight, often leading to death by Int loss. Theses statues may be instantly destroyed like other statues by using a wand of disintegration, Shatter or Lee's Rapid Deconstruction, or by fighting them normally (they have level 1 fire resistance, cold resistance and poison resistance and level 2 electricity resistance). Silver statue ============= Each turn you or one of your ally are in sight of a Silver statue, there's a 33% chance that a hostile class '5' demon will be summoned, 33% chance that a hostile class '4', '3' or '2' demon will be summoned, and 33% chance that nothing happens. Theses statues may be instantly destroyed like other statues by using a wand of disintegration, Shatter or Lee's Rapid Deconstruction, or by fighting them normally (they have level 1 fire resistance, cold resistance and poison resistance and level 2 electricity resistance). Ice statue ========== Ice statues are just a stationary spellcaster, able to cast Bolt of Cold, Ice Bolt, Freezing Cloud and Summon Ice Beast. Unlike other statues, they are not affected by disintegration, but can be destroyed by fighting them normally (they have level 1 fire vulnerability, poison resistance and electricity resistance, and are immune to cold).
